  1. This reminds me of a trailer for the new Will Smith movie, “After Earth.” One of the lines is: “Danger is very real. Fear is a choice.” This underestimates the power of fear in small doses, like you reference in this post. I subscribe more to your view, like that famous definition of bravery being “what you do in spite of fear, not with the absence of it.”

  2. Yes, Jared, fear is like a pain sensor. Without it, we’d burn ourselves on the stove every time or get burned by people in our interactions with them. I love that quote, in spite of fear, not with the absence…I haven’t heard it before. I do like the movie quote too, though. Fear is a feeling that needs to be controlled.
